How Wellness Company “Dear Highly Sensitive Person” Is Revolutionizing Their Industry

This female-owned business has managed to stand out by bridging the gap between mental health and self care.

Los Angeles, CA – August 5, 2021 – Dear Highly Sensitive Person, a mental health and wellness company, is revolutionizing their industry by tailoring to a growing segment of the population: the highly sensitive person. Highly Sensitive Person, or HSP, is a term coined by psychologist Elaine Aron describing a subset of the population who have high sensory processing sensitivity, a personality trait which manifests itself as an increased display of emotional sensitivity, responsiveness to stimuli and an intricate and often richly connected and creative inner life. About 15-20% of the population are believed to be HSP.

Founded by comedians turned mental health advocates, Megan Nager and Jordana Lilly, Dear Highly Sensitive Person caters to a niche of people in the wellness industry that have been somewhat overlooked: the highly sensitive person. The two comedians have always sought to tackle subjects of mental health in both their stand-up material and filmed content. As the two began to more deeply study mental health (Megan is a positive psychology practitioner and Jordana is a Reiki Master and Yoga teacher), they noticed that there was a space where there was little support for this subset of people, mainly because so little information is out there about exactly what a highly sensitive person is. When the two founders of Dear HSP read Elaine Aron’s work, it immediately resonated with them and they set out to provide others with this knowledge.

Because self care is so highly subjective (because the self couldn’t be more subjective), it can be challenging for the individual to know what type of self care products or routines would most benefit them. Megan and Jordana made it their mission to cater the self care experience to each type of highly sensitive individual. The founders want their customers to feel as seen as they did when the duo first learned what a highly sensitive person was. The relaxation and wind down process is of the utmost importance when it comes to individuals with highly overactive minds. Dear Highly Sensitive Person aims to both soothe our fight or flight responses while simultaneously providing an element of luxury.

Dear HSP has big plans when it comes to merging the worlds of psychology and self care. Dear HSP is set to launch several books, retreats and workshops this year that will provide space and resources for the highly sensitive human.
