Cardi Health survey shows that 74.74% of people with high blood pressure have family members with the same condition

Cardi Health, the innovative cardiovascular health company, has published a report that indicates high blood pressure might be an inherited condition. The survey of 83,599 people has suggested that up to 75% of people inherited hypertension, indicating that heart disease, the leading killer of the population, might have a genetic component.

In the survey by Cardi Health, the participants were asked if their parents or grandparents had high blood pressure. 74.74% of respondents said yes, 14.98% were not sure, and 10.28% mentioned that they do not have people with high blood pressure in their family.

This new data suggests that cardiac diseases are not isolated incidents but can be passed down from generation to generation due to genetics, socioeconomic background, lifestyle, or habits.

The high number of people with familial blood pressure indicates that the majority of participants had some degree of heart disease present in their families.

“In clinical practice, we often find that the family medical history is one of the primary factors when it comes to cardiovascular diseases, even more so than the already known causes like low physical activity, poor diet, harmful habits, and high cholesterol. There is a clear link between inherited and unmanaged conditions leading to fatalities.” – said Dr. Robertas Pranevicius, MD, Interventional Cardiologist at Cardi Health.

CDC reports that 1 in 5 adults in America has high blood pressure, but only 1 in 4 has the condition under control. Many people have never had a heart checkup. They might assume that if they haven’t had any major cardiac incidents, they are devoid of any potential complications or ailments regarding cardiovascular health.

Regular screening has never been more important for detecting, preventing, and resolving any cardiovascular issues.

“We’re noticing that more and more young people suffer from arterial hypertension, stroke, heart attack, or other cardiovascular diseases due to inheritance.” – said Dr. Pranevicius.

Heart conditions can be prevented and managed by making healthier lifestyle choices, eating well, being active, and managing one’s mental state.

Cardi Health is at the forefront of a movement that is enabling people to control their health from their own homes.

The company is creating an app that helps track blood pressure, cholesterol, medication usage, weight, and other health aspects. The app will encourage the patients to manage their heart health and identify their symptoms and improve their lifestyle by providing personalized nutrition and activity plan.

The app collects data from a smart blood pressure monitor and smart pill bottle to make sure that the user can detect hereditary heart conditions early and manage them with appropriate intervention and treatment. All patients will receive a personalized action plan which will include guidance and steps on how to take action for health improvement.

“The technology has become an essential part of our everyday lives, we can assist our patients in eating healthier, increasing their physical activity, reminding them of necessary medical appointments, monitoring their health indicators, and making the right clinical decisions on time.” – said Dr. Pranevicius.
