Acne vulgari is characterized by noninflammatory, open or closed comedones and by inflammatory papules, pustules, and nodules. Treatment options includes topical therapies (retinoids, and antibiotics), systemic therapies (retinoids, antibiotics, and hormonal), and complementary and alternative medicines (CAM). The physical therapies such as comedone extraction, cryoslush therapy, cryotherapy, electrocauterization, intralesional corticosteroids and optical treatments are also used.
